Once, there was the Red River on this site. Local residents dumped it with lots of various waste. Beavers built a dam of this litter, which eventually completely blocked the rapid river. Hence, a large beautiful lake with a special fauna formed there. Caddo Lake is not that deep; in rare places its depth exceeds 1 meter. The water is remarkably clean and clear. Besides huge cypress trees, rare Indian lotuses and water lilies grow at the lake. You can enjoy the beauty of this plants for ages.
Currently, the lake is named after an Indian tribe that lived in these places until 1835. Today, this amazing site is an important natural landmark. A little less than 200 species of trees and shrubs, as well as more than 70 kinds of herbs grow on its banks. The picturesque lake is home to over 200 species of birds. Rare animals can be seen in the surrounding area. Tourists can go for a walk along the lake shore only accompanied by a guide, otherwise it is likely to get lost in the maze of small bays and dense cypress forests.
