Perhaps it seems so because of present 'residents' of the villa - the cats. According to the approximate bills, about 50 animals live in the house today. The cats were the favorite animals of the great writer. During his lifetime, he lived with about 80 cats. The villa was bought on the initiative of the writer's third wife, Martha Gellhorn. The house has so much fallen to Hemingway that he did not change the place of residence in the last 20 years of his life.
The hunt trophies brought by the writer from Africa are among the museum's most valuable exhibits. The library contains about 9,000 books, including unique editions and manuscripts.
