Another bright historical symbol of the city is the Town Hall building known as the place of signing the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. The Town Hall building is still used for its intended purpose, it is open to the public several times a week. Everyone can appreciate the Town Hall's luxurious antiques as well as visit the very hall where the Peace of Westphalia was signed.
The most striking Gothic monument of Munster is the church of St. Lambert. If you look at its tower, you can see three small cells attached to it. In the 16th century, they were used for the execution of Anabaptists. The church is closely surrounded by other historical buildings, so it is not easy to find it for uninformed tourists.

One of the most interesting places for walking in Münster is the Prinzipalmarkt famous for its beautiful Renaissance buildings. Each of such buildings has its own unique facade with original ornaments. Some buildings are decorated with old coats of arms, while on the other facades you can see beautiful sculptural compositions. The ground floors of many historic buildings often accommodate popular shops, restaurants, and cafes.
