Skopje is the capital and the most important city of Macedonia. When you first look at the city you will think that it is a modern city like lots of other cities today. But if you visit the area of Old Skopje (the one that survived after the catastrophic 1963 earthquake) you will realize that that it is a city with very rich and bright history.
In the Old Town there are about 1,000 shops, grills, restaurants, and pastry shops. The church famous by its wood carved iconostas named the Church of the Holy Saviour is situated there.
