Cambridge is one of the largest scientific centers of the United States. The town was founded in 1630. At that time it was named New Town. Six years later was founded Harvard University, and two years later it was decided to rename this city in the name of the famous UK scientific center Cambridge. Here was formed American army, the Commander in Chief of which became George Washington in 1775.
