One of the most beautiful and interesting places from a historical point of view is the city of Bari. It has an amazing historic district with many buildings of different eras. There are some beautiful old churches and lovely St. Nicholas Cathedral designed in the Romanesque style; the latest holds a unique religious shrine, the relics of St. Nicholas, which were transferred to the cathedral immediately after its foundation.
Among many religious buildings of Bari, St. George's Church and the Cathedral of St. Sabino that is the epitome of the Gothic style are worth noting. The most ambitious and the most important historical landmark is Fort of Saint Anthony currently housing the large-scale museum. It represents an interesting collection of works of art by contemporary artists; the beautiful fort is one of the most important historical sites to the south of the country.
