Mannheim is a city of unique architecture and great cultural sites. During the tour through scenic streets tourists will observe the buildings of different styles and epochs. It is the second largest architectural complex in Europe executed in baroque style. During the World War II the ancient palace was partially destroyed. Its scale reconstruction and renovation finished only in 1961. Today a magnificent palace of the 18th century appears to city guests in all its glory and beauty. A part of the buildings of the palace is used now by a university.

The oldest building of the city is considered to be the Town Hall. The city landmark water tower Wasserturm is located close to the Town Hall. Built in the 18th century the tower is considered today to be one of the city symbols. The height of the tower is 60m. The construction has miraculously escaped the ruination during the war period.
